Although some types of floor coverings (e.g., wood, stone, tile, or concrete) will naturally feel cold on bare feet, insufficient insulation or air infiltration could be the cause for cold floors.
Temperature differences of up to three degrees from room to room are not uncommon, but often one or several rooms are uncomfortably warm or cold. This condition could be caused by several factors within your home including inadequate insulation, air leakage, poor duct system design, duct leakage, unwanted heating by the sun in warmer months, or a failure in part of your heating and cooling system.

Renter demand and tight supplies are fueling expansion in the apartment sector.
The ’10s are the apartment decade. Indeed, multifamily has become the darling of commercial property investors, whose seemingly endless appetite for product has pushed cap rates for Class A properties below 5 percent in many top markets. “Multifamily is the only sector to enter the expansion phase of the cycle so far. Average cap rates for multifamily have also returned to pre–financial crisis levels,” says Gleb Nechayev, senior managing economist for CBRE Econometric Advisors in Boston.

One reason for high energy bills is an increase in the price of electricity or heating fuel. However, it is common to trace high energy bills to an in-efficient component (windows, heating and cooling equipment, ducts insulation) of your home or a failure of one of these components to perform as intended. It is not always easy to pin-point the problem, but fixing it can make your home more energy-efficient and comfortable.

You want to present your listings in the best possible light. So be careful not to discount the importance of, well, light. Many real estate professionals advise their clients to flip on the light switches before a showing, but often the advice stops there. The inventory of homes for sale peaked at 4.5 million units in 2007, fueling the big drop in home prices that we’ve seen. Today, we have the opposite problem: Only 2.49 million homes are for sale, even though demand has risen some 10 percent from a year earlier.
At the same time, the shadow inventory of distressed homes is no longer the threat that it was. While seriously delinquent mortgages remain high, at 7 percent, their share of the market is down from a peak of 10 percent in 2009. That suggests inventory will further decline—unless home builders start building again. But most builders can’t do that because lenders are making few construction loans.

Visitors to the nation’s capital saw a sea of blue gathered near the Washington Monument May 17 for the Rally to Protect the American Dream. Some 13,800 Realtors® from 50 states, three territories, and Canada joined the rally, and more than 15,000 have signed on virtually. The goal: Remind lawmakers that Realtors® are prepared to go to the mat to ensure home ownership remains central to the American dream. “You’re going to be the most effective advocates your industry can have,” Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the minority whip in the U.S. House of Representatives, told the crowd.
